Kerala Museum is one of the top 5 museums in Kerala. It exhibits the transition of old to the modern era of Kerala in terms of social and cultural habits. A statue of Sage Parashu Ram(warrior sage, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu) who is believed to have created Kerala from the sea with his axe is the entry point to the museum. There are two other galleries within the premise: Dolls Museum and Gallery of Modern Art.
Dolls museum exhibits different dolls depicting various dance forms and culture within Kerala.
Gallery of Modern Art exhibits paintings and other pieces of art by renowned artists like Raja Ravi Varma, M F Hussain, Jamini Roy and K G Subramanyan among others.
