Mahatma Gandhi Road, locally known as M G Road, is a 4 km road that starts from the Venduruthy bridge till the Madhava Pharmacy Junction in the north. This road was earlier called as Seventy Feet Road but was later renamed in 1972, after the father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhiji. It is now the commercial centre in Kochi where one can find numerous shops and other institutions lining the two opposite sides of the road. The road looks very vibrant as you can see the shops being colourfully decorated and maintained. Since many of the shops close by 9 pm, it is advised to start shopping during the early hours of the evening time to have a complete shopping experience in Kochi. With Kochi metro, it is also very easy to access different locations in Kochi.
